Studio Manager/ Gallery Assistant, Arch Contemporary Ceramics Gallery and Studio; Tiverton, RI — July 2019 — Current time 

As a studio manager and gallery assistant, I interact with customers in the gallery and handle money, as the studio manager I work on cleaning and maintaining the studio. 

Ceramic Arts teacher, Falmouth Art Center; Falmouth, MA — July 2019 — Current time 

As a teacher at the Falmouth Art Center I teach people about methods of hand building, and the process of wheel throwing, I also teach students how to glaze there work for the purposes of their functionality.

Ceramic Arts teacher, New Bedford Art Museum; New Bedford, MA — September 2018 — Current time

As a teacher at the New Bedford Art Museum I teach people about methods of hand building, and the process of wheel throwing, I also teach students how to glaze there work for the purposes of there functionality.

Ceramics Assistant, Peters Valley School of Craft; Layton, NJ —  May 2018 —September 2018 

As an assistant I load and unload many different kilns ranging from wood and soda to electric, in addition to mixing clay and glazes, cleaning the studio, assisting with regular maintenance of the studio and studio equipment. While assisting my supervisor Bruce Dehnert I was given the opportunity to build a soda kiln on the Peters Valley Campus. While at Peters Valley I was also able to meet and assist many very talented artist that were instructing every week, May through late September. 

Peer Mentor, Connect Program at The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth; Dartmouth MA — September 2015—May 2018

This position requires me to be a leader and remodel for first year students, in addition to managing my own meetings with 15 my assigned first year students. I am also a directory for these new students when they have questions. This position also requires me to be able to correspond quickly through emails and do online recording of the meetings that I have with other students.

Secretary to the Metals Guild at UMass Dartmouth; September 2017 — December 2018

In the position of the secretary I am responsible for communicating with the club members, communicating with alumni, organizing sales, coordinating fundraising efforts, arranging club meetings, and then developing notes for those who may not have been in attendance at the meeting of event.

Secretary to the Ceramics Club at UMass Dartmouth; June 2017 — May 2018

In the position of the secretary I am responsible for correspondence among the club, taking notes on items discussed at the meeting and reporting it back to the club, I was also put in charge of coordinating the holiday sale in December for the artistry majors. Additionally we hold monthly sales on AHA nights — when everyone from the community comes out — I am held responsible for organizing everything for the sale.  

Vice President to the Anagama Club at UMass Dartmouth; September 2016 — May 2018

As Vice President of the Anagama club it is my responsibility to coordinate with the President of the club and Chris Gustin to participate in the firing of Chris Gustin’s Anagama Kiln in Dartmouth, MA. I am responsible to coordinating with everyone in the club to make cure that they show up to work days — cleaning shelve and stacking wood—to insure that we are doing our fair share of work, in addition to showing up to our firing shifts on time, ready to work during the firing of the kiln. 

 

VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE 

Neediest Family Fund;  January 2017 — November 2018

In the New Bedford area we do a form of the empty bowls fund raiser for the Neediest Family Fund of New Bedford where we partner with the local news paper and the NewBedford Art Museum to throw 450 bowls for a soup fund raiser that happens in November of every year. The making of these bowls are a group effort made by various people in the ceramics department. 

For the 2018 year I am to helping to coordinate everyone in the making, glazing and firing of these bowls. In the past this philanthropic event has raised upwards of $20,000 not including other donations.

SKILLS

Ceramic Skills 

  • Knowledgeable in most building processes by wheel throwing or hand building 

  • Can fire any style gas kiln in addition to most atmospheric kilns and electric kilns

  • I have taken classes on kiln building, clay formulation and glaze calc.

Fine Metal Working Skills 

  • Knowledgeable in cutting, soldering, riveting, casting, and forming metals 

Textile Skills

  • Knowledgeable on weaving, and sewing 

Technological Skills

  • Trained in all windows programs (Word, Excel, Power Point) 

  • Trained in 3-D CAD modeling programs such as Rhinoceros and Sketch up
